Last night I finally made it to the movies to go and watch the last installment of the Harry Potter series, this after watching the Deathly Hallows Part 1 earlier in the afternoon. I am definitely not a Harry Potter fan, and the only reason I read the books in the first place is because it is on my 101 Books List. And after that, I decided to give the movies a go, just to see what all the hype is about. Now that I’ve read all the books and seen all the movies, I can close the Harry Potter chapter forever.
Although I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd movies and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the other movies weren’t that great and I found it difficult to sit through a whole movie. I also do not like Harry Potter himself. If I found out I was this all-important wizard who is destined to fight the most powerful wizard out there, I would pay more attention in class and learn my spells in stead of getting by on the knowledge of 1 friend and luck. I found him irritating and petulant; not the best qualities for the hero of a story, in my opinion.
At least I gave Harry Potter a chance, but I honestly don’t see how this franchise c0uld be this huge and have as many fans as it does. It boggles my mind.
I gave Harry A chance too – loved the first few books, never read the last two. Saw only one movie. It was enough of a chance for me
I was the opposite, I struggled though the first 3 books and then they got better and I enjoyed the last 4. But the HP series will not fall in my top books list at all
I love Harry Potter. I think that The 5th (Order of the Phoenix) and the last movies were the best. I personally am a huge Snape and Neville fan so I can see where you are coming from on Harry.
As for the books, I loved them all, to create such a world is amazing. I think that’s why I love them so much.
There are so many good book series out there that it blows my mind to read them.
I also like Neville, but wasn’t a huge fan of Snape
